What a wonderful life!

This week was incredible!! Sister Ashcraft and I looked through our Area book one day and got a deep feeling about a name in the book. Her name is Beatrice and she was contacted by other Sisters about 5 years ago. We stopped by her house and her brother answered but she was not there. We gave him a Book of Mormon and started walking down the street. 2 minutes later she comes running down the street to us and says she wants to hear the lessons again! Ah, she is awesome! She is really open to the gospel and had a dream with the other sisters that if she read the whole book, she would know of its truth. She remembered the exact chapter she left on 3 Nephi 24, so neat right?? She was so close! She has a strong desire to finish and we cannot wait to help her!

The language is coming a long a lot better and this week was really about ministering in the Savior´s way, one by one. There are a lot of less actives or single ladies in the ward that need someone to talk to, and that is what missionaries are here for too and members!

Is there someone close to us that needs to ministered too? I try to follow the guidance of the Spirit for who needs to be loved and feel the arms of the Savior. (it sometimes turns out in good food and açai) but mostly good conversation!

This week during personal study I was reading the book of Enos and the word inabalável stuck out to me. It means unshakable and firm. After Enos repented of his sins, he had an unshakable faith and trust in the Lord. What an incredible example! We can too have a remission of sins when we have full purpose of heart and pray to the Lord in sincere prayer! He knows and hears us! Because of Christ we can have a remission of our sins. Our Savior is always there! What a joy indescribable!

Also, road biking is super big here in my area so I see a lot of Condor bike shops and people biking all the time and I think of you pops!

Have an awesome week!!

Mission life is so awesome!

This week was a little different because my companion got sick, and we traveled to São Paulo to renew her one year Visa. We spent the night at a Sister´s apartment in a suburb of São Paulo Thursday night, then Friday morning got up and went to the Metrô at 7 am.....big mistake because it was rush hour and I have never been squished with so many people before. A train would pass by and you would think that it was jam packed to reaching point already, yet some how 4 or 5 more people were able to cram on. I still do not know how we made it on to be honest, we just launched our selves into the train and the doors closed and it was a super uncomfortable experience, but we made it to the mission office for Sister Ashcraft to make it to the police station!

I got to hang out in the air conditioned office, and I was reading in Helaman 11 to 14 about the prophet Samuel prophesying the signs of the birth and death of the Savior of the world. Isn't it so neat how Heavenly Father announced the birth of His Begotten Son to the world with a beautiful star and 3 days of light, and it says other heavenly signs were given as well. How sweet and marvelous! I love how we have a modern Prophet to lead us and show us the signs of the coming of Christ!

The dedication of the Rome, Italy temple is a wonderful moment in history, and the gathering of the 12 Apostles and Prophet in our day is even more special! The Restored church, the same organization the Christ established when He was on the Earth, exists today!

On Saturday, Sister Ashcraft and I taught a very sweet couple, who were a referral from a lady in our ward. We taught them about the Restoration of the Church and solemnly testified of a living prophet and apostles in our day! We told them about the gathering that just occurred at the Rome Temple. The lady said how neat that is to have apostles and prophets in our time because that is different from all other churches, to have the true authority of God on the earth through the Prophet and apostles! General Conference is almost here! How are you preparing to hear the words and testimonies of   God´s true servants on the earth?

I so am excited!

I love sharing His true gospel!

Much love!

Following the Savior

What a week!!!

With Carnival, the youth had FSY which is EFY here, and one of the young men who went, asked us to help him have a Family Night with his family and talk about missionary work. We talked about the reason for Missionary work is to help others Come Unto Christ! We do this by learning of Him and Following His example by reading the scriptures and listening to Modern Prophets. He shared his experience at FSY and gave a really sweet testimony about his time there and how his testimony was fortified in the Savior because He is the Only Way by which we can be saved! He is the Light of the World! I love my Redeemer, Christ the Lord!

Yesterday we had Stake Conference and it was awesome! The Temple Presidente was there and he and his wife gave great talks on the temple and the sacred places they are! Then Presidente Miller gave a really good talk on Obedience because obedience is the way for God to send us even more blessings and help that He has in store for us!

It was a very hot week with lots of rain! I think of you guys in the cold while I eat my melting ice cream cone.....hahaha I am very happy and loving my area!

Keep following the Savior, for He is the way!

Much love,
Sister Giles

Olá!!!

What a fantastic week!! It has been flying by! Everyday there is a thunderstorm, but Sunday night it was crazy and poured and poured and the lightning was extremely close, haha! It was Carnival this weekend so we got all dressed up......in our pajamas at 6 pm when we had to return to our house on Sat and Sunday hahaha! We made cookies with m and ms. Super tasty!

We had Zone Conference in Tapauté on Thursday and the topic was about the Restoration and how important it is for each of us as members to have a firm testimony of the Restoration, Joseph Smith, and the Book of Mormon. It is really neat teaching people the first vision and the Spirit that enters the room. The look on people´s faces change and they are always amazed at the miraculous vision Joseph shared. What a marvelous moment in history!

Then Sister Miller shared her sweet talk on Gratidão or Gratitude. It is so important to show our gratitude to our Heavenly Father because then we can see His hand more abundantly in our lives and understand His deep love for us.

We have an investigator, Cleverson, and he is super cool! He has a desire to find truth and light in his life, but he has a lot of unanswered questions and always tells us the bad things that are happening in his life. So we had him write 5 things he was thankful for, and committed him to do this everyday for a week. The next time we visited him after this, he seemed a lot brighter and happier and he said he felt a joy enter his life that was not there before. So awesome!!

The gospel of Jesus Christ is all about hope and faith in our Savior, if we show our gratitude and faith in Him, he will send miracles to help us in our good and bad times. :)

I love missionary work. It is work, but it is so rewarding!

Much love to all! Have an awesome week!
